Ok so it's a little late, it's also quite a while since my last blog post. The autumn months seemed to pass in a flash, the touring site remained open and busy, the hardstanding doing its job keeping a nice clean site and the bathroom was kept warm and toasty with the electric heater. We had a few white frosty mornings but nothing too hard - perhaps that is yet to come!
The Shepherds Hut 2021 season can to and end on 31st October. We are looking forward to reopening for 2022 in April and welcoming new and returning guests. Some of our new guests will be those who won a weekend stay in a little giveaway we ran last year. Work on the farm has been a little less urgent, the wet weather has meant we haven't had any heavy machinery out on the fields as this increases compaction and isn't good for our soil structure (not to mention the visual mess!). We have plenty of fence posts to replace so hopefully this will be done soon now that the weather is drying up. We have had some beautiful days here really making it feel like spring is on the way, I won't count my chickens though as my Google photos reminded me that this time last year we had inches of snow !
We will shortly begin lambing. We lamb from February through to the end of April and I look forward to each new season, it can be hard work and unsociable hours but there is nothing like new life to give you motivation !
