Who has plans for Father's Day? It's always a tricky one here to decide what to do. We are usually making silage as winter fodder for our cows or sowing swedes for winter sheep grazing in June, but this year I am hoping the swedes will be in early and we might have a day off together.
On Sunday 18th June this year Telford Steam railway, which is just over fifteen minutes from us is offering a family footplate experience called the Father's Day Flyer. A footplate experience for Dad on a diesel locomotive, unlimited travel on their standard gauge railway for all the family and two course meal in the furnaces tearoom! Twenty years ago we donated some carriages to the Steam railway when we were changing the structure of the farm. They had a new lease of life after storing logs and horse tack for a good fifty years!
